Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Estimator for a General Contractor client in the San Diego area. This role is responsible for developing accurate and timely cost estimates for both private and public works projects.
The Estimator will review plans and specifications, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, coordinate subcontractor and vendor pricing, and prepare complete bid packages to ensure competitive and compliant submissions
Key Responsibilities
• Review plans, specifications, soils reports, and site conditions to define full project scope.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and prepare RFIs before deadlines.
• Solicit and coordinate subcontractor and vendor pricing to ensure complete bid coverage.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Maintain organized backup documentation for all estimate figures.
• Coordinate scope alignment with internal teams and trade partners.
• Communicate with owners, engineers, and contractors regarding feasibility and cost data.
• Support project handoff, startup budgeting, and estimate transitions.
• Track bid timelines and assist through contract award.
• Manage awarded projects as assigned, including change orders, extra work pricing, material procurement, cost tracking, and revenue monitoring.
• Lead bid closing processes.
• Mentor and support junior estimators.
• Maintain and update estimating systems and software tools.
• Drive process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
• Participate in alternative delivery pursuits.

Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent technical training and relevant experience.
Minimum 5 years of estimating experience.
At least 1 year of field construction experience required.

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Superintendent with a strong background in earthwork operations to lead field execution on active projects in the San Diego area. This is a full-time, on-site role overseeing grading, mass earthwork, paving, and related heavy civil scopes.
This position is responsible for day-to-day field leadership, productivity, safety, and coordination across crews, subcontractors, and project teams.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage all on-site construction activities for earthwork and heavy civil projects
Supervise company crews, foremen, subcontractors, and equipment operations
Plan and execute work sequencing, means and methods, and site logistics
Manage manpower, equipment utilization, and daily production targets
Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Estimators
Review plans, specifications, and scope to ensure accurate execution
Maintain project schedules and track progress against milestones
Serve as the primary on-site contact for inspectors, owners, and stakeholders
Enforce OSHA compliance and site-specific safety requirements
Oversee field productivity, quality control, and performance
Participate in job cost awareness, timekeeping, and project closeout
Qualifications
8+ years of heavy civil construction experience with a strong focus on earthwork
Proven experience with grading, mass excavation, paving, and demolition
Strong understanding of equipment, production rates, and sequencing
Demonstrated ability to lead field teams and manage complex operations
Experience working on public works or large-scale infrastructure projects preferred
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent field experience preferred
